The link to the Fear of Transformation audio was gifted to me this morning by a woman who hurtles across the void, taking time to look at the view. She's an inspiration to me and I'm deeply touched by the idea of letting go and exploring the void, staying compassionate and open to new learning and growth. Thank you

Thanks for the shout-out Fran. You are still the talk of St. C's. We had our Wed. night study last night and the topic might as well have been "Fran McKendree" rather than "Sloth." OK so maybe people didn't want to talk about sloth - but I think you can still take it as a compliment. :) We love you Fran.

I was going through some old pictures of youth programs here in the Diocese of Georgia and came across pictures of a Winter Blast you did with us. I don't know that you would remember it, but it would have been a week or two before Christmas in 2003 or 2004. We've had some great weekends down here, but that was one of the best. You have amazing gifts, thank you so much for sharing them.

I also just read in our diocese's newsletter that you are leading our "Fall Event" this october. If this true, I can't tell you how excited I'll be. Hope to see you soon!

February 26, 2011

Fran, got to hear and meet you at Church of the Advent, Kennett Square, PA. tonight

I just wanted to thank you again for the CD "In the Hands of the Maker" that you gave me. I listened to it on the way home. Love the song By the Mark.. I sing that with another band that does free concerts on Sunday nites in the summer.

I also wanted to thank you for the inspiring music you shared with us tonight. I have been discouraged lately regarding my music ministry, but your music helped me to focus back on the REASON for the song, and to remember that the song in my heart is the real song that God hears.
Blessings to you and all those you hold dear

In December I traveled to Grace Episcopal Church in Lexington, in search of a holy quiet for Advent, amidst the secular frenzy of the commercial holiday season. I found it that night at the special service you led, and the peace I felt continues to this day everytime I play "Awake". It was an honor and privilege to meet you that night. Thank you for sharing your amazing gift, which has truly touched my heart and soul!

February 4, 2011

Hi Fran,
Jason (Woodcock) is on his way to Happening in Meridian, MS tonight and I was listening to some of your older music while doing some work here at home. I have such wonderful memories associated with your voice. I hope you get back to Mississippi soon!

October 19, 2010

Fran
I remember sitting on the front steps at your house in Marcellus Ny around 1967-68. You were playing your guitar. I was all of 4 years old. Laurie would get us all the albums coming out from your band. I would sit and sing along. Hearing those songs really sends me back. My buddy has seen alot of different shows in his day. I asked what his favorite show was he said Mckendree spring from Saratoga. I still play the guitar also. Lots of musical interests. You were my first "guitar hero".! I still live in the same neighborhood, and i just want to say hi and" keep on keepin" on! Your old buddy Doug Linn.

Many years ago Fran came into my christian life. He moved my soul at Peterkin Conf. Center in WV. Then in 1996 my father past suddenly in an accident. My little sis who also become close to Fran called him just catching him before he set out on his travels. The next day on his way to NC from Canada we get a call. It was Fran he was just 30min from our house. The next thing we knew he and his wife where sitting in our house. He only spent a short time with us that day playing "Circle of Love" and talking with us. I will never forget that day. He is still a big part of my christian life to this day. When my ipod suffles to one of his songs I smile and sing the Lords praises. Fran there is a special place in so many peoples hearts. I thanks you for everything you did for me and my family.
Love, your friend in Christ, Mike Walker

"For all I am
and all I do
and all the things I fail to do
this part of you that stays with me
keeps me true..."

From way back in the day, 80's style. Such fond memories of learning from you, playing music together, long walks and talks that still reverberate in my soul. I miss you brother, and hope we can reconnect. I'd love to send you samples of my music now-a million years later. Reached out on facebook as well. Hoping to slide around red tape of management/booking, and connect soul to soul, friend to friend, voice to voice, and all that. Blessings my brother,

I have been an enormous fan of McKendree Spring since my days at University (circa 1970)
One of my all-time favorite song is "For What Was Gained, For What Was Lost".
Just an absolutely fabulous song that could be done today
I searched for years trying to find the songon CD and finally succeeded about 6 years ago
I have played it for anyone and everyone
What a treat to discover this web-site

Fran,
All of us from the 80's YP (Youth Programs) at Kanuga still think of you. It is always a treat to see you in St.Petersburg FL when you stop by. The "Witness" of some of your stories are great. Staying at a St.Pete hotel and talking with people on the porch. They realized you were a musician and asked where you were playing? I think you said "at a church just a couple of blocks away" and invited them to come and see you! That really inspired me... My favorite song of yours is "Take My Burden, Lord. Best wishes Mark E.

Hey Fran! Just thought of you today and the fun we had ministering to those 6-8th graders at Camp Beckwith right before New Years! Having you there was really a blessing and I wish it would have lasted longer. I praise God for giving you this calling and you listening to that call because I (and others I'm sure) have been blessed by it. I hope and pray God crosses our paths again :).

We were at a conference that we really enjoyed with Fran several years ago at Kanuga where he was the Music Leader. One of the songs he taught us there had the words "One Body" in it, and we think it referred to First Corinthians 12: 12-21 about the Christian Body. We would be grateful to know if Fran ever recorded this song or if he can recommend a recording of it, so we can purchase it. We appreciate your help, and look forward to hearing from you. Please give Fran our best and wish him God's Speed in his wonderful ministry. Thank you.

Greetings!

Stumbled on this site because I was researching old McKendree-Spring recordings. That was a looooong time ago! It's great to read about your spiritual journey since then, one not all that different from my own. I'll be checking out your current stuff now.

May God continue to bless you and your ministry.

Fran,
I am so sorry I didn't get to see you in Williamsburg. I live there and that's what I get for not checking your calender. I met you at your performance at the 5:30 healing service on a Wednesday night at St. Peter's in Oxford, several years ago and your concert afterwords.
We chatted for a few moments about upstate N.Y. and the old days around Syracuse and Rochester, etc.
I'm moving back to Oxford, shortly, and I know we will meet up again someday.
Just kicking around some old McKendree Springs on you tube and thought I would give you a "Hey."
Have a great Thansgiving and say hello to Ollie when you talk to him, for me.

FRAN!!! I am sure you don't remember me at all... You and I go way back!!! Like early 90's! If you remember me at all it would be as Scooter, I was a member of Bill Oldland's EYC at St. Francis in Greensboro, NC... Your music touched me in a way that I can not even begin to describe..
Some of my most fond moment were your concerts in our Parish Hall...Do you remember Lindsay dancing? I was moved beyond tears. Glad to see your musical ministry is still touching the lives of other young Episcopalian's all over the country...You represent a part of my youth that was incredible and something I will treasure forever!

With God's Peace,

Scooter :)
